Equality Forums is a community initiative run courtesy of Community Impact UK, a social enterprise based in West Yorkshire, UK. We create friendly, safe spaces to facilitate open dialogue primarily concerning issues in the North of England. We also deliver capacity building workshops, and various other training sessions to promote excellence, and address Equality Matters!

In-line with our core values, sessions are open to all who support our ‘Unity’ mission irrespective of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marital or family status. We welcome anyone who is respectful towards others, share open dialogue and values human rights.

Our initial research, and collaboration with external organisations mainly from voluntary and private organisations, supports the data. Highlighting community concerns that positive steps were still required (more than ever) to combat the historic, systemic, and wide spread disadvantages people face on a daily basis.

We continue to focus on improving equality, diversity, and inclusion, especially in the five key areas identified as needing improvement, these are: –

  • Education and Training
  • Employment and Enterprise
  • Justice and Rights
  • Living Standards
  • Health and Wellbeing

We found often there were no one single issue, particularly when acknowledging the nine protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010. In many cases, these distinct areas often overlapped. Our friendly volunteers and partners are experienced to address the multiple layers that arise. Equally, to provide additional pastoral care to meet individuals needs. So whether you are subject to discrimination, harassment or victimisation, at the hands of modern day slavery, mental-health neglect, etc., our aim is to raise awareness, help reduce the negative impact on everyday life, and transform them into positive opportunities to strengthen aspirations, growth and general wellbeing – join us.
